Project Summary

This multi-faceted project at the very busy Port of Lyttelton called on a wide range of our team’s technical knowledge and skill. Trademark sourced, imported, and installed the natural stone paving elements to form paths and accessways around the new Port Operations building. This involved 242m² of 300 x 40mm x random length paving stones.

This was a highly sensitive ecological site where all sediment and construction waste had to be carefully managed to avoid contaminating the harbour. Trademark formed in-situ rain gardens to provide a natural filtration system for stormwater before it enters the harbour.

The team installed landscape features, including:

  • Supply and install of granite and basalt pavers on pedestals in two areas totalling 50m² of external decking
  • 68 lineal metres of 500mm high cast in-situ concrete rain gardens
  • 326 lineal metres of 200 x 100mm salvaged ironwood wharf timber inserts within pathways
  • 186 lineal metres of reinforced concrete edge beams and timber support beams
  • 270 lineal metres of stainless steel landscaping edge restraints
  • 173m² of concrete screed over building foundation for paving sub-base
  • Supply and install of surface mounted bicycle stands.

Project features

  • Sensitive ecological site involving security screening and biosecurity/border control
  • Technically difficult use of salvaged ironwood to produce unique aesthetic
